Renault has definitely taken its own sweet time to launch the Duster facelift in India, and it is a welcome and a much-needed upgrade. The French automaker attained success with the older generation Duster but, with the Kwid, Renault's success has been redefined. The updated Duster car photos shows that the flaws of the older version of the car is no longer existing. Features such as automatic climate control and automatic transmission have finally made their way into this SUV. The overall styling has also been tweaked since the older one had started to feel a tad bit boring.
The new Duster is packed with creature comforts. To count some, it has an eight way adjustable driver’s seat (with lumbar support), front and rear armrests, steering-mounted audio controls, new auto AC and anti-pinch windows. But the highlight remains the 7-inch MediaNAV system that enables hands-free calling.
Another major update in the 210mm ground high SUV is India’s first 6-speed AMT. Further, the driver can change his preference and switch to manual transmission at any time. The engines have been retained from the older sibling. The car still features a 1.6 K4M petrol, a 1.5 dCi HP and a 1.5 dCi THP diesel. Power figures also remain the same at 104PS, 85PS and 110PS, respectively.
The All Wheel Drive (AWD) variant is only available in the top-of-the-line 1.5 dCi THP diesel variant. The car drives well and handles even better. But the true character of this car shines on an off-road platform. The AWD variant is one of the best in its class and is definitely suited for those who prefer the road less travelled.
In terms of safety, the SUV has ABS, ESP, EBD with brake assist and dual front airbags to protect the occupants from heavy impacts. Also, the Duster’s impact-sensing door unlock feature allows for a quick exit, while the speed-sensitive auto door lock intelligently locks the doors.
The driver also has the advantage of a hill start assist, which holds the car for two seconds for an effortless uphill drive. The reverse parking camera is ideal for efficient parking in tight spaces. Read how the Duster performs against the Hyundai Creta here.
