The French car manufacturer, Renault’s ambitious growth plans are not unknown in the country. The Renault Duster is expected to be offered in five variants in both petrol and engine trims. A 1.6 L petrol engine and a 1.5 L diesel engine are on the cards. To put a rest to the speculations for now regarding the Renault Duster price, the range is expected to be between Rs 7-11 lakhs in India. With the reasonable price tag, the auto major hopes to garner sales of around 50,000 units globally including the UK sales.

To begin with the interiors of the SUV, the resemblance between the Duster and Logan is too high to be ignored. To refresh the memory, the history of Logan goes way back to when Renault and Mahindra indulged in not so fruitful partnership. Getting back to the point, Logan interiors were not something to boast about. Carrying the same dull interiors will not take the Renault Duster to any new heights. Therefore, the auto major has worked to bring in excitement to some extent. The rear power windows control which was until now only at the dashboard is now placed on the door insides, where it rightfully belongs.

Coming to the engine specifications, the 1.5 L diesel engine is same that powers the Renault’s first sedan as an individual entity, the Fluence. It’s the same powerplant that drives the Logan too, which is now popularly known as Mahindra Verito. There will be two variations in the 1.5 L diesel engine, one that produces a peal power of 85 Bhp and the other that has the maximum power output of 110 Bhp. Speculations are rife that the Duster SUV with the right hand drive option will be offered in the UK markets. Renault India might not be able to harp on high profit margins with Duster SUV. Over 4 m length of the SUV will only attract more excise duty unfortunately.
