Renault Fluence to launch on Monday, intends to sale 1 lakh cars by 2013

Finally the word is out! Coming Monday i.e. 23rd May will be marked as starting of second innings for French car maker Renault in India. The latest invent of company “Renault Fluence” sedan is going to be unveiled in New Delhi. It should be noted that Renault Fluence is going to be flagship bearer car of Renault India after the company ended the alliance with Mahindra & Mahindra . Earlier, the Joint Venture release of Renault and Mahindra “Mahindra Logan” failed to mark the presence in Indian car market and the alliance was mutually ended. After that the car was renamed “Mahindra Verito” and launched in Indian market with minor changes.

According to reports, Renault Fluence is going to be assembled at the company’s Oragadam unit in Chennai and will stand in competition with sedan car giants like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis and the Chevrolet Cruze. Furthermore, to comply with latest custom norms, Renault will later manufacture the engines in India after finding suitable local partner but as for now company will assemble the car from CKD kits.

With price of the car still undisclosed, speculation states that Renault Fluence price will be tagged around Rs 13 lakh. The high-end variant will be available in both petrol and diesel versions. As far as Renault Fluence features are considered, the car is expected to come added with high-end specifications which are currently not available in the C segment cars. If sources are believed, Renault India is seeking sales figure of 1, 00,000 cars in India by the end of 2013 and planning to release five more cars till mid-2014. The French carmaker is also hoping of getting enlisted in the list of top three international brands in India by 2015.

Moreover, the Renault Fluence release will be followed by the launch of much awaited Renault’s crossover SUV car “Renault Koleos”, which is expected to be released later in 2011. This SUV car from Renault is going to compete with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner which are currently gaining the presence in market. It is said that Renault will share the assembling of cars with affiliate Nissan Motor. Also, with the plan of big investments in pipeline, Nissan and Renault will increase the facility’s manufacturing capacity to 400,000 cars per annum by next year.
