Renault India after ceasing its ties with homegrown SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra has decided a clear and aggressive strategy for India. Renault India will launch five cars till autumn 2012. To believe this, one can see their entire product line up till 2012 displayed on their website. It has been in news for quite some time that a hatchback, probably Renault Modus (It is almost confirmed that it is not Renault Grande Modus) and a SUV-Renault Duster are the next two launches. But the third one-a sedan car-is high on speculation.

Auto experts are speculating that the sedan could be Renault Symbol or else next generation Renault Logan. The 3rd yet to be unveiled product which is a mass market sedan from Renault could be Renault Symbol as the company is terming this product to be a “surprise sedan”. It is also likely that this mystery sedan will be placed between Maruti Swift Dzire and Volkswagen Vento. The current Renault Symbol is a second generation car revealed at the Moscow Motor Show in August 2008. Although, Renault Symbol is powered by 6 different engine options around the world, only 2 of them are likely to make it to Indian shores. One of them can be a 1.4 litre petrol engine with 75 PS power and the other possible engine is a 1.5 litre diesel delivering 64.9 PS power. Both these engines will be mated to a manual 5 speed transmission.

Built on an extended version of the Clio platform, the car is 4.26 metre in length and 1.43 metre in height. Sold in many markets as the Renault Thalia, Renault Symbol has attractive front features with slightly swept back head lamps and long chrome strip running over the grill. The rear look is similar to Chevrolet Sail earlier spotted in India. The interiors are reminiscent of Renault Logan and Renault Fluence giving a sense of typical Renault interiors. Dashboard is occupied by figures in square, rectangle and line shape majorly. The other guess for this sedan is towards the ‘next generation Renault Logan’ codenamed as X57. New Renault Logan will be a premium sedan with the same diesel engine and lowered emissions. It is expected to debut next year and could follow the Reanult Duster SUV in India.
