Renault India’s debutant MPV will borrow engines from Duster!
Renault India is rigorously testing their upcoming Lodgy; the MPV is expected to enter anytime early next year. Lodgy is already on sale in Europe under Dacia’s badge, Renault’s fully owned subsidiary. The MPV in India will compete with rising segment brigade - Honda Mobilio, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Innova as its major competitors.
Renault Lodgy is a trendy looking MPV and offers comfortable seating for 7 passengers. The dashboard is borrowed from the Duster with subtle changes, the instrumentation cluster is similar to that of recently launched Duster AWD. The central console feature a touchscreen infotainment system- 'Media Nav'. The system sports a seven-inch touch screen that offers auxiliary inputs along with Bluetooth phone and satellite navigation.
Mechanically, like its European model, Lodgy will be available in India with Renault’s 1.5-liter K9K turbo diesel which powers the Duster. In Duster, the engine is available in 85 PS and 110 PS versions but the MPV is likely to get the 110PS version. The 110PS belts out, 108 bhp of max power and 248 Nm of peak torque. Diesel will be mated to a five speed manual transmission.
Speaking of the petrol, Dacia offers Lodgy with Renault’s 1.2-liter TCe turbo petrol engine. The turbo equipped motor pumps out 115 hp and a peak torque of 190 Nm from a 1199 cc engine. As Renault is not offering this motor with any offering in the country even with the Duster, its most unlikely that company would bring in this 1.2-liter TCe. However, petrol would be of Duster’s 1.6-liter unit.
