Renault to enter India as a sole player

Renault, the French auto manufacturer though was not able to mark good progress with its anticipated saloon, Mahindra Logan which was a result of venture with Indian auto major Mahindra & Mahindra but this time French major doesn't want to take a chance and intend to turn in a self made soldier in Indian Auto market. As per the reports, Renault will launch its long awaited sedan, Renault Fluence sedan in the Indian auto market by the month of May. The sizzling launch will then be followed by powerful SUV Renault Koleos in the month of October 2011. reports also claim that the company is though familiar of Indian Auto market, but it is still among those few players to enter last. Mahindra Logan has been existing in the domestic market since 4 long years still no commendable progress is registered for its performance. As low as 46,000 units are sold by the company of Mahindra Logan. Finally the month of April 2010 market the call off from french major which resulted in the transfer of manufacturing rights to Indian partner.

The reports has quoted Renault's SA Executive Vice-president Jerome Stoll saying that Mahindra Logan failed in market because of its poor styling but the car offers good performance on roads. One of the other reason behind model's weak image was its use as radio cab largely. The French major has appointed Law & Kenneth, to handle the advertising and attract buyers at better scale.

Among the plans for new and unique entry in the Indian Auto market, the company might come up with electric vehicles as it is filled with great opportunities and has Bright future. The company will follow a unique brand development where the high end car models will be heated up first, and then slowly moving to other categories. Upcoming Renault Fluence and Renault Koleos will enter the Indian auto market in the knocked-down kits form which will be assembled at the Chennai plant of Renault-Nissan. These car models will not bear any prominent difference from the variant available in the Europe auto market. Renault Koleos will sport a stunning Bose music whereas Renault Fluence will feature a navigation system.

Renault is also planning to bring 3 more models after these two major launches which will be hatchback. As the Indian auto market is dominated by tge small car segment, the company has employed a technical centre in Chennai which will bring out a car model with 85% local content. As per the statements made by the company's official, the upcoming cars from Renault might not cost the least but certainly would be a profitable deal for the consumers. The company will have to face the limited capacity problem of its factory. But as per Renault and Nissan's plans, a huge investment of Rs 4,500 crore in Chennai facility which will lead to a capacity of 4 lakh units. Major part of this capacity (55 %) will be reserved for the Nissan Micra and rest for Renault cars. The company is expecting to speed up the operations by 2015 but looking at the progress, it might happen sooner. By the year 2013, the company will establish a total of 70 dealers in India.
