Renault Twizy to hit Indian roads soon

French car manufacturer Renault which few days back announced its plans of restructuring its JV(Joint venture) with India's largest SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra, now is planning to launch its one of its kind Renault Twizy model in Indian market. Launch of Renault Twizy is a part of Renault exercise of launching a Zero emission car in India. Renault Twizy ZE concept was showcased at Delhi auto expo where it attracted a large number of visitors because of its new concept and unique design. It's basically a two-seater model built on a four-wheeler chassis. The model can accommodate a driver (front) and a passenger (rear) comfortably. The Renault Twizy ZE runs on a fully electric technology provides zero-emission level.
The car is 2.30 meters long and only 1.13 meters wide which is a much lesser than smallest car in India , Tata Nano. The model has a turning radius of just 3 meters which will definitely help drivers to drive and park it easily in congested city areas where car-parking takes a great effort. Besides this it has been powered with 20 bhp electric motor which generates a maximum torque of 7.14kgm and top speed of 75kph. Though details about pick-up and acceleration are not available though company is claiming that its has a commendable performance.
Renault is reportedly searching for an Indian partner to develop its zero emission cars in India and company has already invested in its Chennai plant to produce an ultra-low cost car with its JV partner Nissan and Bajaj.
Upcoming cars in India this year includes Ford Figo, Toyota Etios, Toyota Prius (launched but not delivered), Volkswagen Polo and Tata Aria.
