Seat the Spanish automaker and subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group has just unveiled the Ibiza Cupra, the B segment hot hatch. The Ibiza Cupra has often been termed the VW Polo’s Spanish sister and was recently given a facelift, which has finally been revealed.
Engine specs of the new Ibiza Cupra show a 1.4-litre TSI twin-charger engine that will spit out 177bhp and 250Nm of peak torque thanks to its turbocharger and supercharger. The engine is in fact the same engine that powers the VW Polo GTI. The engine in the Ibiza Cupra is connected to the drivetrain via means of a 7-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox and also incorporated paddle shifters.
The Ibiza Cupra comes with 17 inch stock alloy wheels with sporty red brake calipers peeking out. The suspension has been lowered and tuned in order to achieve more agility and precision. And as if to earn its title of ‘Polo’s Spanish sister’ the Cupra incorporates the XDS electronic differential lock from VW. This change has been used in order to reduce the previous problems of under-steering with the car. The brakes too have been uprated and tweaked but for those who wants a little something extra, AP Racing performance brake system is on offer.
The Ibiza Cupra is scheduled for its Europe launch sometime in February, next year.
