This is one of six upcoming Skoda electric vehicles and it lays down the foundation for the carmaker’s EV design language

Skoda Epiq: 5 Things To Know

The Skoda Epiq recently made its global debut as a concept and it is one of the six new EVs Skoda is working on. While still in its early stages of development, the Epiq showcases the design language of the future Skoda EVs and also gives us an insight into the driving range and features this EV will provide. Here are 5 things you need to know about this EV concept.

Futuristic Design

Skoda Epiq Front

The Skoda Epiq carries the carmaker’s Modern Solid design language, which will also be used in the upcoming Skoda models. It seems to combine sleek modern elements with robust shapes. If its proportions seem similar to the Kushaq, it’s because the Epiq measures 4.1 metres long.

The Epiq comes with an upright front profile that houses Skoda’s signature grille design which further integrates illuminated elements for the connected LED DRL along the bonnet edge. It does not have the Skoda badge but the lettering is illuminated.

Skoda Epiq Rear

The most noticeable part of this design is the massive bumper and skid plate that houses 8 vertical slats. This same bumper design is seen on the rear profile as well and it gets sleek “T-shaped” lighting elements at the back, along with an illuminated Skoda logo.

Its profile design is relatively simpler with protruding wheel arches, cladding under the doors and roof rails on the top. However, the most eye catching detail here is the design on the alloy wheels, which appear to be closed-off from the edges.

Minimalist Cabin

Skoda Epiq Cabin

Minimalism seems to be the direction where every carmaker is heading and Skoda is no exception. The Epiq’s cabin has minimum design elements and offers a plain yet modern look. It gets a dual-tone cabin with a flat dashboard and a new two-spoke steering wheel which still has a bottom-rising element. The centre console gets a U-shaped design element which gets ambient lighting and here you get sporty bucket seats as well (which might not make it to the production ready version).

It also has a practical 490 litres of boot space.

Modern Features

Skoda Epiq Dashboard

The details of the Epiq concept’s feature list is slim but based on the cabin, we know that it gets a free floating 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system which might come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a 5.3-inch digital driver’s display for just the essential information, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, and a panoramic glass roof.

As for safety, no details have been revealed, but it can get 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TMPS), a 360-degree camera, and a few ADAS features as well.

Over 400 Km Range

Skoda has not revealed the exact battery pack and motor specifications of this EV concept, but it has said that the Epiq will sport a claimed range of over 400 km. More details of the battery pack capacity and motor performance are expected to be out soon. Of course, it will also come with V2L capabilities to charge and power other electrical systems as well.

From E To Q

Skoda Epiq

Skoda has been following certain guidelines for naming its SUVs, i.e., start with a ‘K’ and end with a ‘Q’, as witnessed with the Kushaq, Kodiaq and Karoq. Even the recently announced subcompact SUV for India will follow the same nomenclature. Well, for electric SUVs, the carmaker has stated that the name has to start from the letter ‘E’ and end with ‘Q’, like the Enyaq. Hence, this small electric SUV concept carries the name of ‘Epiq’ derived from the word ‘epic’.

Skoda EV Launch Timelines

Upcoming Skoda Models

The Skoda Epiq will be launched in the international market sometime in 2025 at an expected starting price of 25,000 Euros (approximately Rs 22.6 lakh). If launched in India with a high-level of localisation, it will be priced similarly and will be a rival to the likes of Tata Curvv EV and the Hyundai Creta-based EV. But first, Skoda will be introducing the Enyaq as its first all-electric model in India while the next EV to reach global markets will be the Skoda Elroq.
