10th Auto Expo was a huge success for carmakers and Skoda was nowhere behind. Skoda had set its pavilion at hall no.10 opposite to Audi’s pavilion. The company had tried its best to provide information to the viewers by setting up the reception in front where the viewers can avail the information about the company and the car models. The company’s associates were also distributing brochures and press release to the media. The models deployed to pose with the cars were actually aware of their technical specifications. Every car model was beautifully displayed on the revolving dais. To bind the viewers’ attraction the company has also come up with lucky draws.
Skoda pavilion was hugely based around showing off its first car in particular i.e. its first ever SUV Skoda Yeti. Also Skoda stand was a host of its current models like Skoda Superb Combi, Skoda Fabia Greenline and Skoda Laura RS.
Skoda Yeti was its showstopper at the Auto Expo 2010 and its first ever SUV (Sport utility Vehicle), in India. The car is known for its exclusive features, safety, comfort and countless functionality. Skoda will assemble Yeti at its Aurangabad Plant here in India, and would be sold as a completely knock down unit (CKD) making the SUV available at best possible price. The SUV is expected to be priced around 18-20 Lakhs. With 5 wide opening doors and easy luggage storage, the SUV is expected to have a ground clearance of 180mm. The car has come up with a strong presence of dimensions, i.e. Length 4223mm, Width 1793mm and Height 1691mm and having Load Capacity of 545kg and Boot Volume of 510Ltr. to 1760Ltr. The car will be launched in both Petrol and Diesel variants. Its petrol variants will be available with two different capacity engines that will offer different level of engine performance and mileage. Its 1.2L, 1197cc, Turbo Charged, DOHC petrol engine will be available with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission option, will offer mileage 12.7kmpl at urban roads while on highway it gives mileage 17.2kmpl.
According to Skoda officials the main reason to showcase Skoda Superb Combi was to get the response from Indian customers. The car has come with different features like 633 to 1,865 litre luggage space and many new comfort and functional elements. The car has features like two-part panoramic sunroof with sliding front part, an advanced 4 x 4 drive, electrical opening and closing of the rear door with lighting. It also features a keyless system, KESSY system for locking, unlocking and starting the car. The new Combi adds a number of features to those the liftback already has.
Skodia Fabia Greenline was a contribution from the company towards the eco theme of the Auto Expo. The car has come with small changes in its current Fabia like lowered weight, tweaked aerodynamics, etc that add towards lower emissions and better fuel economy. It is a car with one of the lowest fuel consumptions and thus CO2 emissions, and yet showcases all the benefits of Fabia cars: safety, extraordinary interior space, and excellent driving facilities.
Skoda Laura RS has built up on the sporty virtues of the brand and this sporty feature is reflected in the deliberately dynamic design. At the same time, the Laura RS is holding typical Laura strengths like suitability for everyday and family use, economy, spaciousness and safety.
