Skoda Yeti unveiled at Auto Expo

Yeti-Skoda's showstopper at the Auto Expo 2010 and its first ever SUV(Sport utility Vehicle), in India, is known for its exclusive features, safety, comfort and countless functionalities. Skoda Yeti, a stylish sporty SUV was launched in Global Markets 5 months back at the Geneva auto show 2009, and is one of the most successful models of Skoda in International Market. Skoda will assemble Yeti at its Aurangabad Plant here in India, and would be sold as a completely knock down unit (CKU) rather than importing at CBU, making the SUV available at best possible price. The SUV is expected to be priced around 18-20 Lakhs. Along with Skoda Yeti, the Czech Auto maker also plans to launch a more powerful version of Skoda Fabia (Skoda Fabia RS).

Skoda expands its portfolio in India with Yeti, however the Company would also focus on increasing the volume of production of Skoda Fabia in 2010. Skoda Fabia, a hatchback model is competing well amongst its segment of cars including Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Maruti Swift. The only not-so-covered segment of SUV's has got an answer in this Auto Expo with the showcase of Skota Yeti.

Skoda Yeti is going to have a strong offroad capability making it powerful on terrains other than roads, giving a tough competition to Tata Indicruz, Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari. With 5 wide opening doors and easy luggage storage, the SUV is expected to have a ground clearance of 180mm. It's sure to catch your attention with a strong presence of dimensions, ie, Length 4223mm, Width 1793mm and Height 1691mm. Go ahead on adventure trips with the Skoda Yeti having Load Capacity of 545kg and Boot Volume of 510Ltr. to 1760Ltr.

With specifications like 17inch Alloy Wheels, Wheelbase 2578mm, Power of 140bhp, Six Speed manual transmission gearbox, Fuel tank Capacity of 60Ltr, Torque 320Nm at 1750rpm to 2500rpm there is no question on why on the Media Day of Auto expo 2010 Skoda Yeti saw chasing eyes all falling to find a glimpse of the SUV. Skoda Yeti is backed up with a strong 2.0L, TDI, diesel engine. You need not worry for your safety inside this compact SUV with safety features like ABS (Anti Lock Brake) System, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Central Locking, Dual Front Airbag, Front Side AirBag and Driver Knee Airbag.

Skoda Yeti has been ruling Global Markets soon after it was launched in 2009. Delhi Auto Expo gave CarDekho.com team enough reasons to swallow the above fact as Skoda Yeti is high-dosed with features like Roof Rails, Out Side Temperature display, Folding Table in Middle Rear Seat Back Rest, Tinted windows, Front Fog Lamps, Rear and Front Electric Windows, Dual Zone AC System, 12 Speakers sound system, Dashboard Mounted with TCS and EDL system, Mobile Device Interface etc.

Skoda Yeti will be launched in both Petrol and Diesel options. Its petrol variants will be available with two different capacity engines that will offer different level of engine performance and mileage. Its 1.2L, 1197cc, Turbo Charged, DOHC petrol engine will be available with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission option, will offer mileage 12.7kmpl at urban roads while on highway it gives mileage 17.2kmpl on highway. The exact details on number of variants and colors available in the Indian market in not yet disclosed by Skoda.
