Sneak Pic: BMW Burning Midnight Oil Assembling the New 3-Series / 4-Series Coupe

New spy shots of the next generation BMW 3 series coupe, which may or may not be christened as the BMW 4 Series have hit the interweb. Leaving aside this name game war, the fact that emerges as the light of the day is that this two-door coupe will be based on the sixth generation of the 3-series sedan. If we peep into the three series history, the first  BMW 3 series model, codenamed E21 and the 1980’s E30 model only emerges as the two door coupe, with the rest of the 3-Series Coupes came with prominent status quo in comparison to their four door counterparts. The folklore is likely to continue with the new F32, which will share just a few bells and whistles possible the body panels of the four-door sedan. When you look at the pictures that follow, one can notice the archetypal coupe silhouette with elongated front doors and a lower greenhouse that is profoundly tilted towards the rear end.

Even though look wise the F32 model looks similar to the current model, but that is why they say that don’t judge a book by its look; F32 is a more gory beast with the lower front end and a trodden rear end like the ones seen in the 6-Series Coupe. The market has not yet been able to snag the interiors; still the expectations lay with the few styling changes that were seen in the 3-series sedan are going to pave their way here. Under the hood, the car is not likely to come with any surprises as the powertrains doing duty in the saloons are going to be transferred without going under the scalpel. Buyers can take their pick from the four-cylinder and the straight-six turbocharged diesel and gasoline engine crest with the latest addition the 3.0L force-fed six-cylinder unit, that churns out 306 horses (approx). Apart from choosing the powertrains, one can also take their pick from the six-speed manual gearbox and 8sp automatic, apart from these BMW bring the xDrive all-wheel drive system to the table. Thoroughbred M variant (M3 Coupe or M4) are soon going to be rolled in the market, hot on heels followed by the M performance sub-brand. The new 3-Series Coupe or 4-Series is expected to drive in the year 2013.
