SUVs will have a rising demand in future too, says Daimler CEO

As per Daimler AG, Sports Utility Vehicles or also known as SUVs, are counted amongst the best selling vehicles in the automobile industry today. But totally opposite are the reports currently buzzing the market. If these reports are to be believed more and more car manufacturers will target on making small cars, which are fuel efficient rather than SUVs that gulp huge amount of fuel.

According to Mr. Dieter Zetsche, Daimler AG CEO, the gen next Mercedes M Class is all geared up to promote more sales in the next few months as there is a huge demand for SUVs and it is expected that this demand for SUVs will rise progressively.

Global auto markets, such as in United States of America, demand for SUVs is emerging day by day. Even in the home territory of Mercedes Benz, SUVs are appreciated and liked by all. Mr. Zetsche also threw some light on the figures that the market share in Germany in the SUV sector was doubled to 13.6% in the last five years and it is likely to expand further too.

Additional information that was provided included the next generation Mercedes M Class will hit the showrooms on 11th July 2011 in Europe and the delivery of the first Mercedes M class model will be given to the consumer during the autumn season. Daimler has its hopes high as it is expecting that the new Mercedes M Class model will surely add more charm to the firm and will certainly boost up the sales.

Consistent with the reports, the Mercedes Benz car segments, which consists of Mercedes Benz, Maybach and Smart nameplates has aimed to sell over 1.3 million units by the end of 2011. One more thing that has to be noticed is that the SUVs sales at the Mercedes Benz actually touched a whopping height with an increase of 30%, which are 96,364 units in the time frame of January to the month of May. In the last year, this figure was 74,118 vehicles, which clearly shows a good amount of rise in the SUV sector.It is also expected that Mercedes Benz India will soon launch Mercedes M class model in India too. But the exact launch date is still unknown.
