Suzuki delays launch of Kizashi in India

Suzuki Motor Corp. was earlier planning to launch larger cars in India in 2010 – especially the much-anticipated sedan car, Kizashi. But Japanese national daily, Nikkei, reported last day that Suzuki Motor Corp. plans to delay launching its sedan based model Kizashi in India. Suzuki is planning to delay the new product launches and deferring capital investment because of worldwide economic recession and the ongoing slump in auto industry.
Suzuki planned to launch its sedan model Kizashi with engine capacity of 3.6L but now it decided to delay the launch due to shrinking market segment. However, There is no official comment from Suzuki officials but company CEO Osamu Suzuki had flagged the likelihood for the cancellation of this project.
Suzuki Motor Corp. also planning to postpone the plants in Thailand and Russia in 2010. It has recently launched its small car in India, A-Star with the joint venture of Maruti. Suzuki has also started exporting this car to Europe where it intends to replace Suzuki Getz with this new model.
