Although the 2023 Tata Harrier’s Pure variant looks almost the same as the base-spec Smart, it does get some functional upgrades like dual 10.25-inch displays and a reversing camera

The Tata Harrier has become a popular offering in the midsize SUV space ever since it debuted in 2019. Now, the carmaker has taken the wraps off the new Tata Harrier facelift, and is accepting its bookings for Rs 25,000 both online and at its dealer network. With the midlife update, the carmaker has revised multiple things of the SUV, including its variant lineup. It’s now available in four broad variants: Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Fearless. While we already brought to you how its base-spec variant looks like, let’s check out the 1-above-base Pure variant in this story:

Simple On The Outside

Even in the 1-above-base Pure variant, the facelifted Harrier’s fascia is the same as the entry-level Smart trim. Hence, it has the identical vertically stacked LED projector headlights in the triangular-ish housings, connected LED DRLs, and a blacked-out grille. The Harrier Pure variant also has a black air dam and a silver skid plate in the bumper. Being a lower variant, it misses out on LED fog lamps but gets a shark fin antenna.

In profile, the Harrier’s Pure variant is identical to the base-spec Smart. It carries on with the 5-spoke alloy wheels and features the ‘Harrier’ badging on the lower portions of the front doors. At the back, it has a connected LED taillight setup, wiper and washer, and a chunky silver skid plate. While it has continued with the ‘Harrier’ moniker on the tailgate, it is now written in a new font.

Gets Useful Touches Inside The Cabin

The cabin of the Pure variant is also almost identical to that of the Smart variant, but gets two digital displays (10.25-inch each for infotainment and instrumentation). Other than that, it has the same dual-tone cabin theme with grey fabric upholstery and the touch-controlled climate control panel as the Smart variant. It also gets the fresh 4-spoke steering wheel with audio and calling controls and the illuminated ‘Tata’ logo, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 6-speaker music system, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and a 45W Type-C fast charger.

Higher variants get a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen unit, voice-activated dual-zone climate control, a 10-speaker JBL sound system, voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.

A Loaded Safety Kit

Tata has provided the Harrier’s Pure variant with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a reversing camera, and cornering stability control.

More equipped variants also get a driver-side knee airbag (seven in total), a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

What’s Under The Bonnet?

The facelifted Harrier gets the same 2-litre diesel engine (170PS/350Nm) as the pre-facelift model. It still has the same 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. That said, this variant can be picked with the manual gearbox only. Also, the Harrier has now become slightly more fuel efficient.

Expected Time Of Arrival

We think Tata will launch the Harrier facelift sometime in the coming weeks, with prices likely to start around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector as well as the higher-spec variants of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
