Indian auto major, Tata Motors has recently confirmed to Reuters that it is working on a Mini SUV, based on the X1 platform. The X1 platform is the similar one on which Tata Indica Vista and the Manza are built on, so when the platform is already there, we can expect the Duster, Quanto and EcoSport rival soon from the giant. The details have been revealed by Tata Motors' Research and Development chief, Tim Leverton.

Except the platform, no information on the car has been disclosed, we expect the upcoming Mini SUV to share most of its components with the Vista and Manza including engines. Seeing the current trend of sub 4-metre SUVs, we are sure Tata would also develop a sub 4-metre SUV to get the excise duty benefits offered by government on smaller vehicles.

Some days back CarDekho reported you about Tata Motors' plans of launching the more luxurious version of Tata Safari Storme, Safari Storme AT and the Aria AT in 2013. Except these vehicles, there are speculations that the company would launch the compact versions of Tata Sumo and its popular crossover the Aria as well, possibly by 2014. So, all these things indicate just one thing that Tata Motors' is putting all its efforts to increase its market share in the domestic market.

Stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on upcoming Tata Cars. Cheers!
