Tata Motors sales decline 8% in September

Tata Motors has posted an 8% decline in sales in September 2014, having sold 46,118 vehicles over 50,387 vehicles in September 2013. While the company’s domestic sales of commercial vehicles dropped by 13%, the passenger vehicles sales declined 7% in September 2014. The cumulative sales including exports for the fiscal are 236,594, a decrease of 22% over 304,742 vehicles sold last year.
In the passenger vehicle segment, the sales of passenger cars remained the same with 9,766 vehicles while that of utility vehicles declined by 30% with 2,165 units sold in September 2014 over 3,073 units sold in September 2013. Overall, the passenger vehicles sales were at 11,931 nos., lower by 7% over 12,839 vehicles sold in September 2013.
The sales of commercial vehicles in September 2014 were 28,943 nos., a decrease of 13% compared to 33,119 vehicles sold in September last year. LCV sales were 18,539 nos., down by 24% while M&HCV sales stood at 10,404 nos., growing 18%, over September last year.
Tata Motors exported 5,244 nos. in September 2014, posting an 18% growth compared to 4,429 vehicles in September last year.
