Tata Motors' sales down by 27 percent in June 2014

Registering a decline of 27 percent, home grown auto major Tata Motors’ sold 38,557 vehicles (commercial and passenger vehicles) in the month of June 2014, in comparison to 52,712 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. The manufacturer's domestic sales in the month stood at 34,743 units, as against 48,716 units year-ago, witnessing a 29 percent drop. In terms of export, Tata shipped 3,814 units in June 2014, registering a decline of 5 percent compared to 3,996 vehicles in June last year.

The manufacturer sold 7,911 units of passenger vehicles in the month of June, up against 11,804 vehicles sold in June 2013, lower by 33 percent. Sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range decreased by 38 percent in the month, at 5,933 units, in comparison to 9,628 vehicles sold in June last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales were down by 9 percent at 1,978 units over 2,176 units last year. The sales of company's commercial vehicles in the domestic market stood at 26,832 units, down by 27 percent, as compared to 36,912 CVs sold in the corresponding month last year. LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles) sales were up by 33 percent at 17,212 units, while M&HCV sales stood at 9,620 units, with a decline of 14 percent over June 2013.

Tata's cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal stood at 1,09,974 units, lower by 28 percent as against 1,53,195 units sold last year. Cumulative sales of CVs in the domestic market for the fiscal remained lower by 30 percent at 75,165 units. While 48,007 LCVs were sold, with a decline of 37 percent over last year. 24,582 units of passenger vehicles were sold cumulatively in the domestic market, down by 29 percent over last year. Sales of the Nano/ Indica/ Indigo range declined by 33 percent in this fiscal at 18,518 units, whereas The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range sales stood at 6064 units, registering 14 percent decline. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal stood at 10,227 units lower by 11 percent over 11,435 units last year.
