Cyrus P Mistry has been recently inducted as the Director of the Board of Tata Motors – the biggest auto maker based out in India. Last year, in November 2011, it was made public that Cyrus P Mistry has been chosen by the Board of Directors as the heir to the post of Chairman of Tata Sons after Mr. Ratan Tata retires in December 2012. He was appointed as the Deputy Chairman that time and was supposed to work with Ratan Tata for a year before taking over completely. The choice of Cyrus as the heir to the throne came as a surprise as he is a bit reclusive with low-profile and is not known much outside the construction business.
Cyrus P Mistry was born in 1968 to Pallonji Mistry who is the largest individual shareholder of the Tata Sons; he has done his graduation in Civil Engineering from the UK’s Imperial College and has acquired the MSc degree in Management from London Business School. Cyrus Mistry currently heads the Shapoorji Pallonji Group as the Managing Director and has been a Director of Tata Sons since 2006. In the Tata Group, he holds the position of Director in number of subsidiaries like Tata Steel Limited, Tata Power Company Limited, Tata Teleservices Limited, Tata Industries Limited and Tata Consultancy Limited.
