Tata Motors to manufacture the first gold car

Two subsidiaries of Tata Group are now joining hands to manufacture the first gold car of the country, as they claim it to be. The jewellery brand from the house of Titan Industries, Goldplus is all ready to celebrate the five thousand years of Indian jewellery by making a brand new Goldplus Nano. This will be done by Goldplus in collaboration and cooperation with the auto major Tata Motors. According to CK Venkataraman, COO, Titan Industries jewellery division, three patterns have been shortlisted till now for the proposed Goldplus Nano. The final and the ultimate design for the new Goldplus Nano will be based on the choice of the public which will be expressed through public voting. This public voting is scheduled to be held between the period of 15th November, 2010 and 12th December, 2010.

The all new Goldplus Nano is likely to be revealed by the period of April-May. Till now the designs for the Goldplus Nano that have been created by the in-house designers have been unveiled. As far as the public voting is concerned, the votes can be cast through SMS or call or logging onto the site of Goldplus Nano site and other networking sites, for example, Twitter, Facebook or YouTube. The COO further said that the customers can also cast their votes at the closest outlet of Goldplus. Another special attraction include the prices worth Rs 40 lakh for the voters. However, the COO, Mr. Venkataraman denied to provide any further details regarding the price and other details of the production.

Recently, Tata Motors had also announced the recall of its Tata Nano, the people’s car because of the safety errors in the model. Tata Nano is the most ambitious project of the company. It is India’s smallest  and cheapest car. The small wonder car was previously reported for accidents where the model caught fire many times. According to Mr. P M Telang, the Managing Director (Operations in India), for Tata Motors, the company is recalling Tata Nano and the buyers of Nano have been informed about it. Few Nanos, out of the 70,000 sold units, have been fixed till now.
