Tata Motors to move the manufacturing from its facility at Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) of its small wonder Tata Nano to the Sanand unit (Gujarat). The strategical shift is due to company's presumption that the light commercial vehicle sale will accelerate to 50 per cent in this fiscal year. The Tata Motors LCVs are manufactured from the facilities at Pune and Pantnagar. Tata Motors, India's premium vehicle maker is also in search for a land to make a new LCV manufacturing facility and for which the search is already in process. Sandeep Kumar, the head for Sales of Commercial Vehicles for Tata Motors said that, Tata Nano production will be shifted in Sanand facility in Gujarat. When quizzed about the entire production plant shifting to Sanand unit, he repiled that, the company is expected to move the production of Tata Nano.

When Tata Motors was about to set up its manufacturing plant in Singur in West Bengal, the company faced political outrage and then came the Sanand manufacturing unit to its rescue. Tata Nano was welcomed with both hands in India. The cheapest and the smallest car of India sales had a considerable drop observed in four months. It is also being heard that, the shift of Tata Nano in the Sanand facility's major reason is the downturn in the sales though the industry deny this factor. Tata Nano 9,000 units has been sold on the Indian roads but in October the sale of the wonder car was only 3,065 units which is a considerable drop. Well, the company is using various plans and strategies to come stronger in the passenger car segment in the domestic market. Recently, Tata Motors launched Tata Winger Platinum, a seven seator passenger car with a price tag of Rs 7.35 lacs. The company wishes to make a mark in the multi utility vehicle against its rival and market dominant Mahindra Xylo.

Kumar said that, the company last year sold 1.6 lacs Tata Ace and this year the target set is upto 2.5 lac cars which includes exports. The car is made on the lines of Tata Magic, Tata Winger and Tata Ace. Tata Motors also wishes to add two light commercial light vehicle Tata Venture and Tata Iris in the first quarter of the next year. Ushering on the future plans of the company, Kumar also said that, earlier the car maker were not considering the 6-8 seater segment cars. But now by drifting our attention on the LCVs and to utilize the growth in this segment company is coming with these vehicles. As per the reports, the company is planning to explore the auto markets of Myanmar, Russia, Latin America and Poland and others. And will also decide on other strategies and plans to move ahead in this direction.
