It features automatic headlamps, sunroof, rain-sensing wipers and steering-mounted controls over the XM variant for its premium. With the addition of a sunroof in the new XM(S) variant, the Nexon has become the most affordable car in the country to offer one. After the XM(S) trim, the auto headlamps, sunroof and rain-sensing wipers are only offered from the XZ+(S) variant onwards which starts from Rs 10.25 lakh.
The Nexon XM(S) is also equipped with multi-drive modes, hill hold control, ConnectNext infotainment system with four speakers, and digital instrument cluster. The XM(S) variant, however, still misses out on auto climate control with rear AC vents, adjustable headrests, height-adjustable driver’s seat, touchscreen infotainment system with connected tech, and smartphone compatibility.
The Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 120PS and 170Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel engine has an output of 110PS and 260Nm. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual with the option of a 6-speed AMT.
The Tata Nexon rivals the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It will also take on upcoming models like the Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
