Tata replaced Hyundai as second largest car maker

Tata Motors, India's highest revenue earning automaker has replaced Hyundai India as India's second largest domestic passenger car selling company , said company officials. As Maruti Suzuki India is poised on number 1 spot with about 54% market share, the second position is always been a competitive spot for major domestic car manufacturers like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai India. It took 2 years to Tata Motors to regain its position as India's second highest passenger car selling company, officials added.
In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold 31,081 units last month which accounts for a growth of 48 percent compared to sales in January, last year, as per the data provided by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). At the same time Hyundai India sold 29,601 units in passenger vehicle category in its last month's sales. But the show stopper was Maruti Suzuki which sold a whooping 81,087 units last month, much higher than Tata's total domestic sales. Though Hyundai India is replaced by Tata Motors as second largest passenger car seller in January this year but it has left Tata Motors far behind in exports figures by selling 23,034 units in January this year as compared to 582 vehicles exported by Tata Motors.
Excited by warm responses from Indian buyers for its recently launched Tata Manza, company has sold 7,258 units in its last months sales. While on the other hand company has managed to sell 11,448 units of the Tata Indica model thanks to new Vista range launched by the company.
According to company officials, sales of Tata Indica model were highest in the month of January as compared to remaining 9 month of this fiscal. Besides this, full scale production of company's small sensation, Tata Nano will start from April this year at company's Sanad Plant in Gujarat.
