Even though it’s the entry-level variant, Tata has taken enough care to not make it too obvious from the outside by giving it alloy wheels and LED headlights and taillights with LED DRLs
After being on sale for more than two and a half years, the Tata Safari has received its first comprehensive update. While the SUV is yet to be launched, the carmaker has shared multiple details of the new model, including its features, powertrain and even the new variant lineup (Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished). By now, you must have seen the new Tata Safari facelift in its fully loaded variant, so in this story, let’s check out what its entry-level Smart variant looks like.
Simple Yet Stylish
Even though the Smart is the entry-level trim of the Safari, it doesn’t look basic on the outside. At the front, Tata has given it LED projector headlights with a connected LED DRL strip, connected LED taillights, and a black grille. It also gets a huge air dam with black inserts and a silver-finished skid plate in the bumper.
In the SUV’s profile, you can notice the black roof rails and ORVM housings, body coloured door handles, 17-inch alloy wheels, and the ‘Safari’ moniker on the lower portion of the front doors. Its rear gets new wraparound and connected LED taillights, the ‘Safari’ badge in a fresh font, and a chunky skid plate.

A Humble Yet Functional Cabin
The Safari facelift is being offered in a 2-tone cabin theme and has grey fabric upholstery. While it has the new 4-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata logo and the updated touch-based climate control panel, it doesn’t get any kind of infotainment or music system. That said, the Safari’s Smart variant comes with a 7-inch digital driver’s display and the Boss mode as seen on the pre-facelift model.
Other features on board the entry-level variant of the Safari facelift include auto climate control (with vents for the middle and last rows), electrically adjustable ORVMs, Type-A and Type-C chargers in all rows, and all four power windows. Tata has even given it 60:40 split-folding seats in the second row, while the third row seats can be folded down 50:50.

Safety In Check
The base-spec version of the facelifted Safari is provided with six airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), hill-hold control, cornering stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Tata has also equipped it with 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Higher-spec variants of the new Safari get safety features such as seven airbags, electronic parking brake, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which now include adaptive cruise control.
Diesel Power Only
Even with the update, the carmaker has stuck to the potent 2-litre diesel engine (170PS/350Nm) for the SUV as was offered earlier. It still is coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic option.
