Tesla Motors, named after the great scientist Nikola Tesla is looking forward to enter the Indian auto sector by the year 2015. The company develops vehicles that run solely on electric power. Speaking in an interview, Deepak Ahuja, the Chief Financial Officer of Tesla Motors said, “India is a huge potential market where we need to be." “I think sometime in 2015 seems to make sense to enter India, but it’s difficult to make an official announcement.” Ahuja further said that Tesla’s upcoming car, the Model X, would be an ideal fit for a country like India. This is probably because the Model X is an SUV, and the soft SUV segment in India is growing in double digits every year.
The automaker currently manufactures the Model S sports sedan and Model X SUV in three variants: 60 kWh, 85 kWh and Performance enhanced 85 kWh. Both the Model S and Model X emit zero percent CO₂. In S model, one can see features like 17inch touch screen which control all the operations right from opening the sunroof to listing your favorite songs. In the X model, availability of third row makes it a very economical vehicle for joint families in India. While in terms of performance, the X model, likely to be seen on Indian roads, achieves 100kmph in mere 5 seconds.
