Production to grow exponentially over the coming months to fulfil the massive demand it has garnered worldwide since it was unveiled in April last year!
Since the Tesla Model 3 was unveiled amid much fanfare in April last year, the electric sedan received over 4 lakh bookings in just five months! After a long and anticipating wait, it looks like the first batch of Model 3s are around the corner.
At their annual shareholder meeting held last month, Musk had confirmed that the Model 3 will be officially launched in July. And it seems that Tesla has kept its promise. On Monday, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the Model 3 has passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule and the first Model 3 will be ready to roll out of the assembly line this Friday! He also tweeted that the ‘handover party’ for the first 30 customers of the Model 3 will be held on July 28.
If you place an order for a Model 3 now, expect to get your hands on it a year from now. The massive demand for the electric sedan, that costs $35,000 (over Rs 22 lakh), has made Musk assure customers and fans that his Fremont facility will ramp up production exponentially in the coming months. In July, Tesla will produce 30 Model 3s and in September, the number would be around 1,500 units. Tesla says it can rollout about 20,000 cars a month by December this year.
The Tesla Model 3 is not just limited to the US market. Some Indian customers had placed orders for a sum of $1000 (over Rs 60,000) when the pre-booking for the sedan began in April 2016. These cars are expected to arrive in our country next year when the all-electric car manufacturer makes its official entry.
