It was globally launched in India last year and the 5-door Jimny is already exported to Indonesia, Australia, and South Africa
At the 2023 Auto Expo, the 5-door Maruti Jimny made its global debut and was launched in India soon after. Manufactured in India, this Maruti Suzuki off-roader is exported to other right-hand-drive countries like Indonesia, Australia, and South Africa, but is priced differently in those markets. Let’s see how much more expensive the Jimny is in these countries and if they get any additional features for the premium.
But before that, have a look at the prices of the India-spec 5-door Maruti Jimny:
Variant |
Ex-showroom Price |
Zeta MT |
Rs 12.74 lakh |
Alpha MT |
Rs 13.69 lakh |
Zeta AT |
Rs 13.84 lakh |
Alpha AT |
Rs 14.79 lakh |
* Dual-tone variants cost Rs 16,000 extra
Suzuki Jimny XL (Australia)
Ex-showroom Price |
Converted To INR |
AUD 34,990 - AUD 36,490 |
Rs 18.96 lakh to Rs 19.78 lakh |
In Australia, the 5-door Jimny is sold as the Suzuki Jimny XL, and is available in a single variant with both manual and automatic transmission options. Compared to the India-spec model, it is almost Rs 5 lakh more expensive. However, the Australia-spec 5-door Jimny gets a few new colour options, and is even equipped with ADAS features like adaptive cruise control.
Suzuki Jimny 5-door (South Africa)
Ex-showroom Price |
Converted To INR |
Rand 4,29,990 - Rand 4,79,990 |
Rs 18.78 lakh to Rs 20.97 lakh |
The starting price of the 5-door Jimny in South Africa is similar to the starting price in Australia. However, unlike Australia, the South African market gets the 5-door Jimny with two different variants – GL and GLX – which can be compared to the Zeta and Alpha variants of the Indian market.
In South Africa, the Jimny does not get any additional features, and misses out on 6 airbags in the base-spec variant.

Suzuki Jimny 5-door (Indonesia)
Ex-showroom Price |
Converted To INR |
Rp 46,20,00,000 - Rp 47,86,00,000 |
Rs 24.48 lakh to Rs 25.36 lakh |
Indonesia has become the latest model to get the 5-door Jimny. Just like the Australian market, the 5-door Jimny in Indonesia comes in a single variant with both transmission options. Its features list is the same as the India-spec version, but it does get some additional colour options which we don’t get in the Indian market.
Why Such High Prices?
The 5-door Jimny in all these markets comes with the same engine and transmission options as the India-spec version, and also gets a similar features list. But still, there is a huge difference in the prices. This price difference is due to the import taxes of these countries, since the 5-door Jimny is exported from India.
Jimny 5-door Prices
India |
Australia* |
South Africa* |
Indonesia* |
Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 14.79 lakh |
Rs 18.96 lakh to Rs 19.76 lakh |
Rs 18.78 lakh to Rs 20.97 lakh |
Rs 24.48 lakh to Rs 25.36 lakh |

Due to these import fares, customers in these countries have to pay more for the same product. However, these import taxes for some countries are still lower compared to the Indian market, where we have to pay a 100 percent import fee for imported cars, making their prices double the actual cost.
As of now, the 5-door Jimny is available in three other countries, but Maruti could export it to more markets as well. In India, the Jimny is a rival to three-door sub-4 metre off-road SUVs like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
