Over the next six months, we will see the launch of six BRAND NEW cars
Update (10/07/23): Hyundai has launched the Exter at a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom).
The first six months of 2023 have been hectic with several important launches. Now, looking forward to the rest of the year, it’s equally significant and exciting with plenty more new cars to come. We’ll be seeing a new EV, a facelift, and five brand new models. Here are our top 10 picks of these upcoming models and everything you need to know about them:
Kia Seltos Facelift
Expected Price - Rs 10 lakh onwards
The Kia Seltos compact SUV will receive its first major update after being on sale for four years. It will get a refreshed exterior and interior design with several new feature additions like dual 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and radar-based ADAS technology. While it will continue with the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, a new 160PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit will also be introduced.
Maruti Invicto
Expected Price - Rs 19 lakh onwards
The Maruti Invicto will be launched on July 6 as the costliest model in the brand’s lineup. The Invicto MPV is a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross but will get minor styling tweaks to set it apart. It will be a premium offering with panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen system, powered second-row Ottoman seats, dual-zone AC, and ADAS. Powering the Invicto will be a 2-litre petrol engine with strong hybrid technology which, on the Hycross, claims an efficiency of 23.24kmpl.
Hyundai Exter
Expected Price - Rs 6 lakh onwards
The Hyundai Exter will be the carmaker’s entry-level SUV and a rival to the Tata Punch, slated to launch on July 10. It’ll be a micro SUV which will use a 1.2-litre petrol engine, with the choice of manual and AMT transmissions. A CNG version of it will also be on sale. In terms of features, it’s getting an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen system, six airbags, and rear parking camera.
Honda Elevate
Expected Price - Rs 12 lakh onwards
The ninth model to enter the compact SUV space will be the Honda Elevate. It will be a petrol-only offering, using the City’s 121PS 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine. There won’t be any strong-hybrid engine on offer, but its EV version will debut by 2026. Features on offer will include an electric sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, six airbags, and ADAS.
Citroen C3 Aircross
Expected Price - Rs 9 lakh onwards
Another rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate will be the Citroen C3 Aircross. The India-centric C3 Aircross will be a three-row SUV, which is expected to be priced aggressively against these compact SUVs. It will use a 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and we’re expecting an automatic transmission to also be on offer. Comfort and convenience will be covered by a 10-inch touchscreen system, a digital driver’s display, dual airbags, hill hold assist, and TPMS.
Hyundai i20 Facelift
Expected Price - Rs 7.60 lakh onwards
The premium hatchback will get a facelift in the coming months, as it has already been spied testing in India. The facelifted Hyundai i20 will sport a refreshed exterior design with some tweaks to the interior theme as well. The features list is unlikely to see many additions, save for the dual camera dash-cam. The powertrains are also expected to be the same, including 1.2-litre petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines, both with the choice of manual and automatic.
Force Gurkha 5-Door
Expected Price - Rs 16 lakh
The five-door version of the Force Gurkha is highly likely to go on sale in the next six months. It will look exactly the same as the three-door version but with a stretched rear profile. We’re expecting it to be offered in multiple seating configurations. Powering the more practical Gurkha will be the same 90PS 2.6-litre diesel engine with a 5-speed manual transmission.
BYD Seal
Expected Price - Rs 60 lakh
BYD’s third electric car for India, the Seal, could debut sometime during the September-October 2023 period. The premium sedan is expected to carry a large 82.5kWh battery pack which claims a range of up to 700 kilometres. Features expected on board include a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, and radar-based ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).
Tata Punch EV
Expected Price - Rs 12 lakh onwards
The Punch is not just getting a CNG version but an EV too, possibly this year. Just like the Tiago and Nexon EV, it could be offered with multiple battery packs, with a claimed range of up to 350 kilometres. The electric version of the micro SUV has already been spied testing a few times, which shows that the styling changes will not be too significant. The features list will also be identical to the ICE version. It would be positioned above the Tiago EV and Tigor EV in the Tata EV lineup.
Nissan X-Trail
Expected Price - Rs 40 lakh
We could see the launch of Nissan X-Trail towards the end of this year, as the carmaker is currently testing the full-size SUV. It will be a rival to the likes of Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Powering the X-Trail could be a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine or a strong-hybrid powertrain with the choice of AWD. It will be a premium and feature-rich offering, sold through the import route.
