Toyota Fortuner, BMW X1 on High Demand

Toyota Fortuner from the Japanese manufacturer and BMW X1 from German car major is attracting great demand in market despite the fact that SUVs are considered to be the fuel guzzlers by the Union environment minister, Mr. Jairam Ramesh. Toyota had put a halt on the booking of its affordable Sports Utility Vehicle, Toyota Fortuner and will reopen its booking in January next year. While on the other hand, BMW X1 is attracting high demand even before the start of bookings.
BMW X1 is the cheapest model from German car manufacturer and will start its deliveries from the month of January 2011 and the booking for this powerful SUV has not yet opened for customers. As per the speculations, the stunning model from BMW will carry a price tag of Rs. 22 to 23 Lakh only which is far less than BMW's entry level sedan that costs 26.95 Lakh. The company is expected to reach great heights with this launch and break its previous records easily. It will be able to create a strong base against its major competitor Mercedes-Benz.

According to a spokesperson from BMW India, the latest affordable SUV from the company is attracting a great demand in market and consumers are ready to make the payment even before the booking starts. He also admitted the fact that the exceptional popularity of this SUV is because of the teaser campaign which the company followed 6 months ago.
As per the BMW dealers, the customers are so excited for the launch of this stunning model that they are ready to hold the booking of the BMW 3-Series at present which they will replace with BMW X1 once the pre-orders are triggered. Looking at the condition, it is estimated that the order bank has reached 1,000 units that means the real demand even before the bookings get open are 1,000 units. According to another dealer, the availability of BMW X1 will be made available in the month of May if the booking is registered today.

Similar is the condition with Toyota Fortuner which is running a backlog of 5,000 units and will re-open its booking nationwide on 1st of January 2011. The spectacular model is priced at Rs 19.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and has a waiting period of 6 complete months. As per the Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the company has plans to increase the production of Toyota Fortuner but cant initiate the same at the moment.
