Toyota is likely to launch the facelifted SUV in January 2021.
Two models from the Toyota India portfolio are set to be launched in their facelifted avatars soon. While the Innova Crysta facelift will be launched this month, the facelifted Fortuner is expected to arrive in January 2021 as reported by our dealer sources. A few of them have even started accepting unofficial bookings for the latter for Rs 50,000.
With the facelift, Toyota has made minimal changes to the Fortuner’s exterior. It gets updated LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a revised front grille, and a new layout for the LED tail lamps. It could also sport a new set of alloy wheels as part of the update, as seen on the spied model earlier. Toyota also sells a sportier version of the Fortuner called the Legender in the Thailand market.
Toyota is expected to offer the facelifted Fortuner with the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the current model: 2.7-litre petrol (166PS/245Nm) and 2.8-litre diesel (177PS/up to 450Nm). While both the engines are offered with an optional 6-speed AT, the petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT and the diesel is paired to a 6-speed MT. The Thai-spec Fortuner’s diesel engine has been uprated to 204PS and 500Nm. The India-spec model is expected to get this uprated diesel engine. The petrol version is expected to be a 2WD offering while the diesel will get the 4WD as before.
The Thai-spec facelifted Fortuner is seen with an all-black cabin with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system (up to a 9-inch unit) and a new instrument cluster. Toyota offers the Legender variant with a 360-degree parking camera, wireless charging pad, and a powered tailgate with the sweep-to-open feature.
Toyota has priced the current model between Rs 28.66 lakh and Rs 34.43 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelifted Fortuner is certain to command a premium over the current model. It will continue to go up against the likes of the Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster, and the Mahindra Alturas G4.
