Toyota Fortuner has been ruling the premium SUV segment and has been a jewel in Toyota's crown ever since it has been launched in our market. Aligning perfectly with our ‘big car’ mindset, this SUV has kept the sales charts ticking over in true Toyota manner. With Toyota price hike around, the importance to buy one before the year ends is definitely a wise decision to be made.
What makes it so popular?
Well no doubting the fact that SUV’s have a very dominating road presence and the Toyota Fortuner particularly is a handsome looking brute with highlighted muscles all around its body. Ask any layman, who doesn’t know a thing about automobiles about his favorite car. It will either be a space craft shaped sports car or a mammoth SUV. A lot of people also believe that having a “huge” car somehow intimidates people and this fact definitely strokes their ego.
Are SUV’s safer than small cars?
According to the basic law of physics, with less space between the passengers and the physical frame of the car, the chances of a critical injury while driving a small vehicle greatly increase. Yes, the huge body of the car somehow creates a safer environment, but there are other factors as well. Small cars having modern day safety features like traction control, curtain airbags electronic stability program, anti-lock brakes and can be safer than an old SUV with less updated safety equipment.
Toyota’s are known to be pretty reliable in Indian conditions and the Fortuner with its butch looks has become a macho status symbol on our streets. With the 2016 Fortuner around the corner, we highly expect a six-speed dual clutch transmission and the added luxury of a panoramic sunroof.
