The Indian festive season is around the corner and this is the best time when car makers introduce new and updated products to attract more customers. Nothing is different this time, we will see a series of facelifts, limited edition cars from different brands, all trying to improve their market share. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has started its festive season strategy with the introduction the Etios and Liva Xclusive editions in the market. Few days back, TKM launched the facelifted Innova in the Indonesian market, and is now all set to launch the vehicle in India as well.
The facelifted Innova has received changes both on the inside and outside. The front fascia of the MPV gets a bigger chrome grille with three horizontal slats, newly formulated front bumper, new air dam with restyled fog lamps. The Indonesian version of the vehicle has parking sensors at the front, however, it is quite early to comment whether we could get the same in India or not. The rear end of the MPV also has a chrome enhancement and a mildly tweaked bumper. Talking about interiors, the car receives better upholstery, beige scheme, new infotainment system, roof-mounted screen and others.
While talking about the mechanics, the Innova facelift retains the same engine configuration. The petrol version of the vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre VVT engine that develops 132bhp, while the diesel Innova gets a 2.5-litre D4D diesel engine that churns out 103bhp. It is also speculated that the facelifted Innova will be available in seven variants, G, GX, VX and Z, with the three base variants to be made available in both 7 and 8 seating configuration. The top-of-the line Z version is likely to house some additional features like leather seats and others.
This has been the third update since the Innova MPV launched in 2005. Earlier, the company updated Innova twice in 2009 and 2011. According to media reports, Toyota has also informed its dealers to exhaust the existing stock to provide new Innova to its customers. The vehicle is expected to be priced higher than the existing one. The Japanese automaker will launch an all-new Innova by 2015, till then the company would bring facelifts to keep buyers interested.
Rumors are also there that Toyota is also planning to launch the facelifted Fortuner SUV in India. The company had already launched this vehicle in the Indonesian market.
