Toyota has strong footprints in the utility segment of the country, whether it's the Innova or the Fortuner and even the yesteryears Qualis. This said, the company has no offering in the hottest selling compact SUV space as of yet. Hyundai Creta recently took the market by storm and Renault Duster did the same when it was launched. A lot of manufacturing are planning to hop into this segment, for instance, SsangYong is coming up with Tivoli, soon and we feel Toyota should launch this dramatic looking crossover/SUV in India.
Coming to its design, boy, it looks flamboyant! The front facade features piano black grille flanked by leaner swept back headlamps. It features contrasting roof and a huge spoiler. The taillamps appear to protrude out of the body and the rear windscreen is raked to an extreme angle, which makes the spoiler floating! It also features all-around body cladding and machined alloys. Toyota has been tight lipped out the specification of this upcoming crossover. However, it will feature a hybrid powertrain and is said to be based on the Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), which is same as that of the new Prius.
Globally, it will compete with vehicles like Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, SsangYong Tivoli along with others. Even from this list, a couple of vehicles are expected to hit our roads, soon, like Jeep Renegade and SsangYong Tivoli. So we hope that Toyota launches this hot looking crossover in the country.
