Toyota has released the first teaser image of its upcoming sub-4m SUV thereby confirming that it will be called the Urban Cruiser. It will be launched around the festive period with official bookings likely to begin in the second half of August.
As per the teaser image, it seems like the smallest Toyota SUV and will feature a two-slat grille as seen on the Fortuner. The Maruti Vitara Brezza-based SUV is expected to get a redesigned front fascia with updated headlamps, redesigned alloy wheels, and different colour options to set it apart from the donor vehicle.

Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser will be powered by the Vitara Brezza’s 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 105PS and 138Nm. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual as well as a 4-speed AT gearbox. As seen on the donor SUV, Toyota could offer its sub-4m SUV with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid tech for improved fuel efficiency.

Toyota is expected to offer the Urban Cruiser with the same features seen on the Vitara Brezza. This includes auto AC, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. However, it is unlikely to get connected car tech. Toyota could offer the Urban Cruiser with new upholstery and a dual-tone interior for further distinction.
