Toyota launched the Urban Cruiser SUV on 23 September 2020 at a starting price of Rs 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Now, the carmaker has started delivering the sub-4m SUV and with the commencement of deliveries, Toyota has now stopped offering the free 2-year maintenance package with the Urban Cruiser.
Earlier, Toyota had announced that it will offer a 2-year free maintenance package on pre-booking the Urban Cruiser before the launch on September 22. This offer was then further extended to the beginning of deliveries at launch (September 23).
The Urban Cruiser is a rebadged version of the facelifted Maruti Vitara Brezza. As a result, it is identical to the former in terms of features, dimension and engines. In terms of design, however, it features an updated front end with a new grille and a redesigned bumper. On the inside, it features black-brown dual-tone upholstery instead of the single-tone interior found on the Vitara Brezza.
Under the hood, the Urban Cruise gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 105PS and 138Nm mated to a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT. Like the Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruise also comes with a mild-hybrid system with the automatic transmission.
Similarly, in terms of features, the Urban Cruiser gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Other features on offer include auto LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC, auto-dimming IRVM, LED fog lamps and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Prices of the Urban Cruiser range from Rs 8.40 lakh to Rs 11.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will take on likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Nissan Magnite.
