Toyota Kirloskar Motor has declared to launch its small car by 2010 in India. The compact car would be an LPG version, initially. However, the price of the car is still undercover. This was confirmed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Deputy Managing Director, Sandeep Singh. He said that the company will have its Bangalore plant ready by this period. It may be noted that the company was supposed to launch the car by 2011. Toyota is investing nearly Rs.3000 crores in setting up a new plant near Bangalore. Initially, the plant will manufacture only 70,000 units against initially planned 100,000 units.
The new small car from Toyota will have 70 percent localized components which will make the cars cost-competitive. Toyota is also expanding its dealership network in India. It has currently 85 dealers in the country which will be scaled up to 95 dealers by end of this year. By end-2010, Toyota will have nearly 150 dealers pan India.
