Vauxhall/ Opel have christened their new style-led city vehicle as ‘Adam’, the official unveiling of the car will be done at the esteemed Paris Motor Show in September. Vauxhall Adam earlier known as Junior will send a pack of punches to BMW Mini and Fiat 500. Junior name was considered till the model was in pipeline, however as the name was not mature enough to keep; the brand needed a name which could give an image boost to the Vauxhall brand as the brand aims to reach the high-end segment. Vauxhall Adam name gives the car a people friendly touch as well as helps the brand to polarize opinion.
Adam comes up as a mature character and has a ubiquitous feel without having on the fence feeling. Vauxhall Adam proportions will be same as BMW Mini i.e. 3.7m length. In addition, spy pics of the car have come with the name announcement revealing the sporty bearing, three-door, four seat hatchback. Vauxhall Junior aka Adam test mules have also been caught going through vigorous regime at Nurburging. Vauxhall new hatchback will give you nostalgia as the convex rear windows seems to be inspired from novel Ford Ka and the arched roofline has paved its way in Adam from Audi A1. According to Vauxhall the car is ‘chic and witty’, ‘muscular and sporty’ and one that does not lay emphasis on functionality.
Taking cues from Mini, Vauxhall Adam will also be highly customized both in exteriors and interiors and despite the small car tag it will be easy on pocket. Vauxhall has used General Motors new small car platform to spawn Adam and the hatchback has been designed in Korea. Vauxhall Junior will be placed below the next-gen Corsa. The pivot engine lineup with three pot petrol and diesel powertrains has set the focus on fuel economy. Apparently there is also chances of a sporty four cylinder engine to come with Adam as the engine bay is designed in two different sizes. Also, the market is abuzz with the news of a electric powered Vauxhall Adam to arrive in the year 2015.
