Volkswagen Beetle launching in Mumbai on Dec 4, '09

Volkswagen AG, the German auto major, has just launched an integrated 360 degree communication campaign using print, electronic, digital and out-of-home media for the first time in India. Now the company is ready to launch its Volkswagen Beetle model in Mumbai on 4th December 2009. The company intends to utilise the Volkswagen Beetle as a brand building tool as it's gearing up to enter the compact car segment by 2010.
The upcoming Volkswagen Beetle would sport a 2.0 litre, 115hp petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Other features that will be studde with the car will comprise of a rain sensor and cruise control, along with acoustic rear parking sensors to fit into small parking spaces. ABS, traction control, anti-skid system and standard front and side airbags will be it's safety features. In addition remote central locking, heat insulating windshield and side glass, stereo with 6 speakers and CD changer, front centre armrests, power steering, body coloured bumpers and 15 incch alloy wheels features will also be available.
Jorg Mueller, Volkswagen Group chief representative as well as president and managing director Volkswagen India Private Limited recently said, We will soon be introducing new car models in India like the Volkswagen Beetle or the Volkswagen Polo to enhance our presence in the market, besides providing technologically advanced cars for Indian customers. At the same time our state-of-the-art-factory in Pune is ready for the start of production of the Volkswagen Polo which will be launched at the Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi. The Polo’s pedigree is of German engineering and technology, adapted for the domestic market and assembled by Indian skills.
Widely known as the world's longest running and most-produced car of a single design, the car pitches in the luxury car segment alongside Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb and the Mercedes-Benz C Class and is expected to be priced above Rs. 20 lakh, though nothing has been revealed by the company yet.
