Volkswagen India is facing a slowdown in its market sales, and to revive its market position, the company might come up with exciting offerings and new products. Recently we reported that Volkswagen Up! Spotted during its test rounds, but the company is in denial mode about the Up! Launch. VW Golf which has recently bagged the auspicious title – World Car of the year 2013 for the consecutive time has now been spotted in India. However, we don't think that launching the Golf would make any sense as it can kill company's flagship hatch Polo market.
Surprisingly, one of the Team-BHPian has spotted the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf in Pune. This has been for the first time that someone spotted the seventh-gen Golf in India. The new Golf was showcased in Berlin last year, Geneva Motor Show and recently at the New York Auto Show where it crowned as the World Car of the Year. The company launched several variants of Golf such as GTD, GTI and station Wagon.
The German auto manufacturer's global hatch is known for its driveabilty and regarded as one of the best driver's hatchbacks across the globe. It is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform. The spotted Seventh-gen Golf has a 1.4L turbo petrol engine.
The same powertrain will also power the next generation Octavia, expected to hit the Indian shores by the end of 2013. The VW Golf spied was not camouflage and is expected to have been in India as a company's global testing program.
