Volkswagen Group sells 7.40 million vehicles in this year's first three quarters

Leading automotive group Volkswagen handed over 3 percent more vehicles in September, at 8,81,300 units, in comparison to 8,56,000 units same month last year. In January to September period, the group sold 7.40 million vehicles, up against 7.03 million vehicles in the corresponding time last year, registering 5.3 percent sales growth.
"The Volkswagen Group grew deliveries further to well over seven million units in the first three quarters of the year. That is a very pleasing development, particularly given the differences in the way world markets have been performing," Group Board Member for Sales Christian Klingler said in Wolfsburg on Friday, and added: "Even though markets remain challenging, we nevertheless have the chance to reach the ten million deliveries mark this year – four years earlier than originally planned."
The brand Volkswagen itself delivered 4.56 million vehicles to customers worldwide from January to September, as compared to 4.43 million vehicles in the same period last year, posting 3.0 percent growth. In Asia-Pacific region, the brand handed over 13.8 percent more vehicles, at 2.22 million vehicles, as against 1.95 million vehicles during the last year. The company sold 1.26 million vehicles in the European market, posting 2.8 percent sales growth.
Audi delivered 1.30 million vehicles worldwide in the period to September, with an increase of 10 percent over the previous year's 1.18 million vehicles. In the Asia-Pacific region, the four-rings brand handed over 4,91,500 units, in comparison to 4,22,600 units, recording 16.3 percent growth. While 1,58,400 vehicles were sold in North American region during the same period, an increase of 14.5 percent.
The sports car manufacturer Porsche delivered 13.3 percent more cars, at 1,35,600 units, up against 1,19,700 vehicles in the first three quarters. In the Asia-Pacific region, the brand sold 43,600 units, up against 36,400, posting 19.8 percent growth. While in Western Europe (excluding Germany), 20,000 models were handed over to customers, up by hefty 20 percent.
SKODA delivered a total of 7,74,100 vehicles, up against 6,84,900 vehicles from January to September, up by 13 percent. The Czech automaker was particularly successful on European markets, delivering 2,03,500 units, registering 18.5 percent growth. The brand grew deliveries by 12.9 percent to 113,200 in the home market, in comparison to previous year's 1,00,300 units.
Brand's economic brand SEAT delivered 2,94,000 vehicles, as against 2,66,100 vehicles worldwide in the period to September, up by 10.5 percent. The Spanish brand performed particularly well in Central and Eastern Europe, where deliveries increased by mammoth 55.0 percent to 18,500 units, and in Western Europe (excluding Germany), where the company handed over 1,66,100 vehicles to customers.
