There was a point in time when the marketing done by Volkswagen was an example for others in this industry but now the game has changed in such a manner that with the fall in the numbers for the company, the entire marketing teams has put in their papers. Not just this but the newly appointed CEO is planning to bring in a senior marketing managers from the house of India’s most popular car manufacturer, Maruti India. The director and member of Volkswagen’s passenger cars division, Neeraj Garg and along with him, Sandeep Mandrekar, the head for Sales for India, have both decided to move on from Volkswagen India.
Garg and Mandrekar have played very important roles in building the Volkswagen brand in India. Neeraj Garg was offered a position in China but as per ET, he has declined the offer. The source also stated that there are a few other senior executives who are soon to bid adieu to Volkswagen India. Apparently, Volkswagen has made an offer to Shashank Srivastava, Maruti Suzuki CGM (Marketing) to step in place of Neeraj Garg. Along with this, VW has also made an offer to Pankaj Sharma, GM Maruti’s True Value business. Sales for VW cars have fallen by 16% and the production has fallen down by 30%. Currently Volkswagen has Volkswagen Polo, Vento, Jetta, Beetle, Passat & Pheaton in their portfolio. But despite of decent line of cars, VW is lacking behind their own subsidiaries, Audi and Skoda.
