Delhi Auto Expo 2010 at Pragati Maidan is the largest Indian auto fair. People were excited to see the hottest cars that were revealed in front of them. The luxury car manufacturer, Volkswagen had set a very wide pavilion in 1500 sq meter area at hall number 12. At the entrance there was a reception for providing information about the company and its models. Volkswagen Polo, Polo Cup and Volkswagen Phaeton were displayed on revolving dais. There were gorgeous models deployed to pose around car models who were surprisingly also aware about the technical specifications of Volkswagen cars.
The Volkswagen and Tata’s Pavilion at Auto Expo were facing each other. A bold and beautiful Volkswagen logo was fitted at the top of the pavilion. Inside the pavilion the company had also set up a meeting section for their business meetings. The company representatives were providing information to the viewers.
The company had displayed all new Volkswagen Polo, its sport version Polo Cup, the luxurious sedan Volkswagen Phaeton, Jetta and Passat.
Look at the most awaited launch of Auto Expo – The Volkswagen Polo. The new Volkswagen Polo will be available with both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variants of Volkswagen Polo will be powered by the 1.2L petrol engine which delivers 75Bhp power at 5400rpm with a maximum torque of 110Nm at 3750rpm. On the other hand diesel variants of Volkswagen Polo are equipped with 1.2L diesel engine that produces 75bhp of maximum power at 4200rpm with 180Nm of maximum torque at 2000rpm. The Volkswagen Polo will be available with seven exhilarating colors that are Candy White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Emotion Blue, Pepper Grey, and Deep Black.
Volkswagen had also displayed the sports version of Polo named Volkswagen Polo Cup. The Volkswagen Polo Cup will be commercially launched in the Indian market in the month of June. The Volkswagen Polo Cup will be powered by the 1.6L, 1598cc petrol engine that produces 105bhp at 5250rpm with 153Nm of maximum torque at 3750rpm. This powerful engine delivers excellent acceleration and engine performance like any sports car and enables it to touch 100kmph mark in just 11.1 seconds. Some of the exciting features of this car are Dual Front Airbags for Driver and Front Passenger, Front and Rear Fog Lamps, Rear Defogger, ABS (Antilock Brake System), etc.
Another model that Volkswagen had displayed at Auto Expo is its luxurious sedan Volkswagen Phaeton. Volkswagen Phaeton will be priced at Rs 75 lacs (as ex-showroom price in New Delhi) and it will be available in the company’s showroom from March 2010. The Volkswagen Phaeton will be equipped with the 3.6L, V6 petrol engine with six speed tiptronic gearbox that can produce maximum power of 280bhp at 6250rpm with 370Nm of maximum torque at 3500rpm. Volkswagen Phaeton will be loaded with an array of exciting features that includes 12-Way Electric Seat Adjustment with Memory, Climatronic Auto Air Conditioner, Cruise Control, Rear Seat Entertainment System, Parking Distance Control for both front and rear, Leather Upholstery, 8-Airbags (Dual Front and Side Curtain Airbags), ABS (Antilock Brake System), ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), Anti Theft Alarm system, etc.
Apart from these new cars Volkswagen had also displayed its existing sedan model Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Beetle at its pavilion. In the Indian auto market, Volkswagen Jetta is available with both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol model of Volkswagen Jetta is powered by the 1.6L petrol engine with five speed manual transmission gearbox that delivers 102PS of maximum power at 5600rpm with 148Nm of maximum torque at 3800rpm. On the other hand diesel variants of Volkswagen Jetta are equipped with the 1.9L, TDI diesel engine that delivers 105PS of maximum power at 4000rpm with 250Nm of maximum torque at 1900rpm. Volkswagen Jetta was loaded with advanced safety features like Six-Airbags (including Dual Front and Side Airbags), Safety-Optimized Front Head Restraints, ABS (Antilock Brake System), Electronic Immobiliser, Fog Lamps, etc.
Volkswagen Beetle was another hot model displayed at Auto Expo from Volkswagen product portfolio. The company has recently launched the Volkswagen Beetle in the Indian auto market.
On the other side VW is also planning to launch it's Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Up (Electric) in India. Volkswagen has also targeted to localize production in India nearly about 80% as the company seeks to offer cars at more competitive prices. The company also expects to expand its dealer network to about 200 showrooms for the Volkswagen, Skoda and Audi brands over the next two to three years in India respectively.
