This concept hints the upcoming compact SUV from the German automaker!
Volkswagen has taken wraps off the compact SUV concept which was teased earlier this year. It is christened as T-Cross Breeze. The concept is in the form a convertible crossover, though it is obvious that the production version will not be an open top one. It was rumored to be called T-Cross and the concept stands true to its rumored name, but since it’s a cabriolet, VW must have had added the ‘Breeze’ moniker!
In terms of design, it features a wide front grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps and taillamps are wrap-around. The fog lamps, both front and rear features a square-ish design with LED graphics. The interiors hints towards the cabin of the next-gen Polo.
Speaking of its dimensions, the concept measures 4,133 mm in length. If VW has any plans to launch it in India, we feel that the overall length will be just under 4 m to keep the prices competitive (tax benefits). There is also a possibility that that VW might keep the length as it is and might pitch it against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and others. Moreover, the overall width is 1,798 mm, while height with the roof up is 1,563 mm and wheelbase of 2,565 mm.
It is said to be based on the next-gen Polo’s MQB platform and weighs 1,250 kilograms. It is propelled by a 1.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged motor, similar to what we get with the Polo GT TSI. It generates 110 horses and 175 Nm of max torque. The engine is mated to a 7-Speed dual-clutch automatic transmission through which power is sent to the front wheels.
