Volkswagen to launch People's car Beetle in India

One of the worlds largest car manufacturer Volkswagen is planning to launch people's car Beetle in India. According to company the car is expected to launch in India in the month of October this year. Volkswagen is also planning to launch its hatchback Polo next year in the country. Currently company is also planning to invest Rs 3600 crore in its pune plant in India.

 We will launch the Beetle by the end of October. We have no plans to alter our decision to invest Rs 3,600 crore in India, Volkswagen India-Project Head Ludwig Geerken told PTI. He added that company will start production of its hatchback Polo in its pune plant by January 2010 and car will be ready to sale by the month of March.

At the one hand the Polo will be manufactured in India in company's pune while the People's car Beetle will be imported from abroad. Although the company hasn't disclosed any information about the price of both of the cars.
