23,000kms, 9 different countries and 2 major bodies of water, that's the distance that the Volkswagen Touareg covered. Setting a new world record, the Touareg driven by the Australian team which was headed by Rainer Zietlow, covered the mentioned distance between Melbourne, Australia, to St. Petersburg Russia in 17 days, 18 hours and 49 minutes.
This drive was undertaken to deliver a special message that was needed to be delivered to the mayor of Melbourne to the mayor of St. Petersburg. Through the journey, the diesel off-roader had to face rough terrains and even worse weather. The adventure trip was undertaken in the Volkswagen Touareg 3.0-litre V6 TDI.
The Touareg SUV hasn’t achieved the laurels that it is capable of, in India. The new model that was showcased during the Delhi Auto Show is expected to fall in the Rs. 60-65 Lakh price bracket. The Touareg is a well-built and spacious SUV but with a limit of 5 passengers and a rather simple and plain cabin.
The cabin even though rather plain is very comfortable and makes this all weather SUV a pleasure to drive even in the roughest terrain.
