Volkswagen and the Indian automobile lovers are all celebrating today with the mega launch of Volkswagen Vento, a premium sedan from Volkswagen. A white colored dazzling Vento was unveiled with great pomp and show amidst crazy enthusiasm of the Indian automobile lovers. The car would be available for grabs by the last quarter of the calendaric year 2010. It would be priced between 7 to 9 Lakhs and is supposed to be a strong contender in the premium sedan segment, out to give a staunch competition to Honda City. Vento with its timeless design and spacious interiors highlighted Volkswagen's commitment to India.
The biggest advantage that Vento offers in the current scenario to the buyers, is that it has been launched in both Diesel and Petrol variants in India. The car is powered by the same engine as available in Volkswagen Polo i.e. 1.6 L petrol that produces a torque of 153 nm while the Diesel engine will have a thumping torque of 250 nm. The petrol version would be available in a 6 speed automatic transmission in addition to the 5 speed manual transmission.
Director (Member of Board) of Volkswagen Passenger Cars Division of Volkswagen Group Sales India, Mr. Neerag Garg, was delighted at the launch of their 1st ever product designed and launched for the Indian market. Vento is 96mm longer and has an extended wheelbase over Polo. The looks of the car encapsulate elegance and are trendy. Mr. Garg was also elated at the fact of introducing Vento as the most enviornment friendly cars on the Indian roads. The design of the car has been based on Volkswagen age long principle La Simplicita.
The interiors of the car throw light on the passion for detail of the Volkswagen team as some of the interesting features include a tilt, adjustable steering, height adjustable front seats, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, climate control air conditioning system, a multi-functional display and many more. Comfort has been ensured even at the rear end with enough leg room and head room for the rear seat passengers. One of the most interesting feature is the adjustable front seats from rear side. There are also AC vents at the rear end of the car for the comfort of rear seat passengers.
Vento, meaning wind in Italian, has been manufactured in the Chakan facility of the company situated near Pune. The car is blessed with a foray of safety features that includes ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) that ensures the prevention of wheel locking in case of sudden braking, front and rear wheels with disc brakes, head rest, 3 point safety belts, passenger airbags etc. Volkswagen,known for interesting accessories used in its products has garnished Vento with climate control dual air conditioning system with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and AC) with an air quality sensor, hands free mobile plug ins, Bluetooth, etc.
