Just one more day, and India will have the much anticipated Volvo V40 Cross Country in India, which will be launched at the company's new showroom in Gurgaon. It will be the company's most affordable vehicle, which will compete against both the luxury compact crossovers and luxury hatchbacks. Volvo V40 Cross Country is basically an off-roading competent version of the V40 Hatch, so it can be pitched both as an off-roading capable vehicle and luxury hatchback. The V40 Cross Country will compete against the likes of BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in crossover segment, while to the Merc A-Class and upcoming BMW 1-Series in growing luxury hatchback space.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country will have two engine options in India- a 1.6-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre D3 Diesel motor, capable of churning out the power output of 180bhp and 148bhp respectively. We are expecting the V40 Cross Country T4 petrol model to have a five-speed manual gearbox, while the 2.0-litre D3 diesel powered version will have a six-speed automatic gearbox. There are no official details about the pricing of the car, we hope it to be priced somewhere around Rs 25 lakh, so to lure maximum buyers.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country is a combination of impressive driving dynamics, interior comfort and a rugged character with low emissions, highly safe technology and impressive fuel efficiency, making it a great product overall. As far as the features are concerned, the V40 Cross Country will have Start/Stop as standard across the range along with Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless music playing and city safety auto-braking. There will also be other standard features like ABS, EBD and others, making it one of the safest cars in its league.
We'll be covering the launch event live, so stay tuned to CarDekho for the detailed analysis of the car. Cheers!
