Weekly Wrap-Up: Renault Launches Lodgy; Government Announces Incentive on Electric Cars

Week's biggest news was of-course the Renault Lodgy launch. The automaker introduced the Lodgy MPV in the price range of Rs 8.19 lac to Rs 11.79 Lac. The MPV being available in 7 and 8 seater option lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio as well as the expensive Toyota Innova. Also in the week, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri Anant Geete launched a scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME) under which incentives upto Rs 29,000 for two-wheelers and Rs. 1.38 lac for cars can now be gained. Also National Green Tribunal (NGT) has banned all the diesel vehicles over 10 years old in the city. The five-member bench headed by Chairperson Swatanter Kumar also said that while such old vehicles will be discontinued in the city, those old ones coming from other states will not be allowed to enter the city as well.

Buying an Electric Car Becomes Cheap; Government to offer incentive upto Rs 1.38 lac
Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri Anant Geete launched a scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME) at an event which was organized by The Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) of the Government of India, in association with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Under this scheme, the government has announced to offer incentives upto Rs 29,000 for two-wheelers and Rs. 1.38 lac for cars. Rolls-Royce starts testing its SUV's all-wheel drive suspension system
