Maruti Suzuki is desperately trying to do away with the clichéd cheap tag as guess what it is heading in right direction, ticking all the correct boxes!
Time has come to see a brand new Maruti Suzuki. For the first time, the Japanese-Indian conglomerate is focusing majorly on premium segment and technologies rather than entry level hatchbacks. The S-Cross introduced the Nexa range but it didn’t get expected sales relatively. However, Baleno has literally nitro boosted through the sales chart since the day it was launched. Seems like S-Cross has prepped the Nexa range for Baleno to come and explore its segment. Barring these, the company has a lot in store to stir the market!
Though there is no confirmation about the Ignis coming to India. However, it is highly likely that Maruti Suzuki will launch it sometime next year with a display at 2016 Auto Expo display. Now, why it is highly likely is because Mahindra is debuting a new micro SUV segment with KUV100 in January 2016 and Ignis falls in the same segment. Furthermore, considering the craze amongst masses towards any vehicle looking like a crossover or an SUV, this segment, i.e, micro SUVs, is expected to rise in near future!
Speaking of its engines, Ignis can borrow mechanicals from Baleno. Assuming it will be lighter than Baleno, featuring the same chassis with shorter dimensions, Ignis will be more fuel efficient than it.
Besides Ignis, Maruti Suzuki has unfinished business with Hyundai Creta. The automaker has imported a couple of new Vitaras in India and is expected to showcase it at the coming Expo. The launch can be expected sometime next year and will compete majorly with Creta along with facelifted Duster, upcoming Ssangyong Tivoli and others. The highlight of Vitara would be the Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD tech if the company offers it here. This would give it an edge over Creta.
