The carmaker has sent messages advising not to start car in waterlogged areas
With the Met department forecasting heavy rain in various parts of Maharashtra from 7 June to 11 June, 2018, Maruti Suzuki has sent out advisory messages to around three lakh car owners in the state. The carmaker has asked Maruti owners to avoid driving in waterlogged areas and has advised them not to start their cars if they are stuck in a pool of water as that can severely damage the engine.
In 2017, rain and floods affected certain areas of Maharashtra quite heavily and many carmakers had to step up their roadside assistance services to rescue stranded cars and passengers. Some carmakers even offered discounts on spares and lubricants to bring the affected cars back in running order. Here’s the press release from Maruti Suzuki for more information.
Maruti Suzuki issues advisory for customers ahead of heavy rains forecast in Mumbai region
Maruti Suzuki, today, issued advisory for its customers ahead of Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast of ‘heavy to very heavy’ rains in Maharashtra, especially in the coastal Konkan region, from 7th to 11th June, 2018.
As a proactive and preventive measure to avoid breakdown during heavy rains, the company sent out SMS messages to around 3 lakh Maruti Suzuki customers in the region, advising them of do’s and don’ts incase their car gets into a waterlogging situation.
The customer care initiative is in light of several car owners getting stuck in waterlogged/flood situations and damaging the engines of their cars. Through the advisory, the customers are guided not to start their car if it is waterlogged as it may damage the engine.
In similar flood-like situation in recent years, Maruti Suzuki has rescued several hundred customers whose cars were impacted, including damage due to engine starting in waterlogged condition through our Skilled and Trained manpower. Additional manpower is also deployed for faster delivery of vehicles to customers.
Experience and learnings from handling flood impacted vehicles of Mumbai, Chennai and Kashmir prompted this customer education initiative.
As a leading and responsible automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki actively informs customers ahead of such forecasts to avoid critical damage to the customers’ cars.
Last year more than 27 lakh customers were pre-emptively informed on precautions for safety of their car.
